A quick Chaos Dwarf update, the Daemonsmith for my army, Farzhaluf! The base is obviously still WIP, but I think it will give him some more majestic presence, which in my opinion is pretty needable when it comes to Dwarfish characters.
Must say that I really enjoy painting Chaos Dwarves, a big change after months of painting Wood Elves! The magma effect is also something that I really need and want to improve, and what better way then to paint up a bunch of glowing Chaos Dwarves? Next model on the list: the mighty K'daai Destroyer!

From Ashes and Fire shall be woken
So, with all the Dwarf-hysteria going around, I decided to start my own collection... of CHAOS DWARVES! My buddy who plays Dwarves and I decided to start a escalation-campaign with his Dwarves and my Chaos Dwarves. This is the first little force I now have painted up.

Tournament round-up
As last year, the tournament was a great deal of fun and the amount of inspiration I get from seeing 49 other armies is massive! After getting two wins against High Elves and Orcs & Goblins I suffered defeat against Dark Elves and two Daemon lists, giving me a final place of 29th out of 50. I'm barely satisfied, even though I play Wood Elves I want to get on the upper half, maybe next year with a new book! What made my weekend though was that I totally unexpected won the competition for both best painted model with my dragon and best painted army. I am still shocked, never seen myself as more then a decent painter, definitely not a top tier one. Judging by the standards of my competition I am more then honored to be considered amongst them! But enough talk, here comes some pics:
A Nurgle army, came second in best painted army, just awesome! |
Fire Phoenix, came 4th in best model |
Frost Phoenix from the same guy |
Insanely good looking Tomb Kings army |
Another army in top 5, a Dwarf themed Empire army |
Another top 5, High Elves, insanely painted |
Just extreme how awesome that flag is! |
My army which won best painted! |

Wood Elves update.
So, been a while since I updated anything here, but that doesn't mean I have been idle when it comes to the Hobby! First up, after working on it for two months, I finally finished my new Wood Elves general, Highborn on a Dragon which I call The King of Blades. When I this autumn got the idea to use a dragon list for a tournament I will be attending now in february I knew I wanted a real Wood Elves dragon, not a green painted HE or DE dragon. Lucky me I had the Sisters of Twilight box at home, so I started right away to assemble this all metal beast! My next problem was the character on it, same here I didn't want it to look like a green painted HE or DE so found a body from Noble on a Great Eagle box. The swordarm is taken from a GG-kit and with some basic sculpting I got it on there, the head I took from a Warhawk Rider and the shield is from the old Asarnil the Dragonlord. I was satisfied with the looks of all the components but still got the feeling that something was lacking. After some thought I found the reason: the model lacked somewhat in presence. It looked too tiny and insignificant up on the dragon and after randomly seeing a picture of the Queen of Blades from Starcraft I got the idea to do something similar but with a Wood Elves touch. Here is what I ended up with:
While hearing the song Emerald Sword it just felt cool to paint the sword green, and I'm really satisfied with the result, the model certainly looks like a Wood Elf and still got a fearsome presence on the battlefield, the perfect centerpiece to my army!
Here is some more pictures:
Next update will come after the tournament with some comments and results! Cheers
